even的用法說明
Even now he doesn’t believe me. 甚至到現在他還不相信我。(其它時候就不用說了)
Now even he doesn’t believe me. 現在連他都不相信我了。(其他人就更不會相信我了)
Now he doesn’t even believe me. 現在他甚至不相信我了。(其他方面的事就更不可能了)
Now he doesn’t believe even me. 現在他甚至連我都不相信了。(其他人就更不會相信了)
This film is even more interesting than that one. 這部電影比那部更有趣。
I often drive fast, but he drives even faster. 我經常開車開得很快,但他卻開得更快。
3. even 是副詞,不是連詞,所以不要用它引導從句。如:
即使下雨我也會來
誤:I will come even it rains.
正:I
will come even if [even though] it rains.
即使你不喜歡喝酒,也不妨嘗嘗這一杯。
誤:Even
you don’t like wine, try a glass of this.
正:Even
if you don’t like wine, try a glass of this.
ever的用法說明
Nothing ever makes him angry. 從來沒有任何事使他生過氣。
We hardly ever go out at night. 我們晚上幾乎從不出去。
Do you ever wish you were rich? 你曾希望過自己很富嗎?
It is colder than ever today. 今天比以往更冷。(adj)
He studies as hard as ever. 他仍像以前一樣用功。(adj)
If you ever visit London, you must come and stay with us. 你要是到倫敦來,一定要到我們這裡住住。
2. 在通常情況下,ever(曾經)不能用於肯定句中(包括肯定回答中)。如:
他曾經住在巴黎。
誤:I
ever lived in Paris.
正:He
once lived in Paris.
你曾見過他嗎?—是的,(曾經)見過。
誤:Have
you ever met him? —Yes, I ever.
正:Have
you ever met him? —Yes, I have.
有時 ever 也可用肯定句,主要見於以下情況:
It is the most interesting film that I (have) ever seen. 那是我所看過的最有趣的電影。
(2) 具有較強懷疑語氣的句子中。如:
I wonder if he’d ever stopped to think how I felt. 我不知道他是否曾經想過我的感受。
The situation there is becoming ever more complicated. 那兒的情況越來越複雜了。
(4) 表示“總是”“經常”(=always)。如:
He is ever ready to find fault. 他老是喜歡挑毛病。
【注】這種用法在現代英語中已很少見,通常用 always 代之。
(5) 用於某些習語: for ever(永遠),ever since(自從……以來),ever so(非常),ever such(非常)等。
